Welcome

Kemp Town Enclosures is an unusual and rather lovely garden, owned collectively by the freeholders of the 100+ houses that make up the Kemp Town Estate developed in the 1820s by Thomas Kemp. The Estate consists of Sussex Square, Lewes Crescent, Chichester Terrace and Arundel Terrace.

Access is limited to residents [approx 1000 people] who each have a key to the ten gates. The 6 acre Garden has some unusual features and plantings that look interesting throughout the year, as well as lots of birds and the occasional badger. It is maintained by an annual rate from each house and has a full time gardener, a groundsman, and a band of volunteers who meet each Tuesday morning, weather permitting. For those who live on the Estate it is a wonderful asset to have at ones doorstep.
