Kemp Town Enclosures has been around for a long time and
we have tried to bring our regulations into line with modern
practice. We really want to signal how keen we are for people
to use and enjoy the Gardens, but we must have some rules
and stick to them. Here they are;
1. The Board of Directors of the Company accepts no responsibility
or liability for any loss, damage or injury, and the Gardens
are used entirely at your own risk.
2. The occupiers and their families and household living
in Sussex Square, Lewes Crescent, Arundel Terrace and Chichester
Terrace who have paid the annual Garden Rate shall be permitted
to to hold a key to the Enclosures.
3. Parties, firework displays and similar social events
for more than 20 people are permitted only with the permission
of the agents. The person responsible for the event must
ensure that their guests are made aware of these regulations,
that no damage is caused and that all rubbish is removed.
4 All users of the Gardens must ensure that the gates
are kept shut after entry or exit.
5 No bicycle may be ridden in the enclosures, and no-one
shall disturb the quiet enjoyment of the Gardens by the
use of radios or noisy appliances or by disorderly conduct.
6 No Barbeques allowed in the Enclosures this year.
7 Parents must be responsible for the conduct and safety
of their children at all times.
8 No games shall be played which could cause injury or
nuisance to other users or damage to the amenities. Games
should be played in the South Garden on the lawn south of
the Green Hut. Please do not use cricket balls or other
hard projectiles.
9 All dogs exercised in the South Garden must be registered
with the agents and owners must abide by the registration
rules. Dogs are not permitted in the North Garden.
10 Any person in breach of these rules may forfeit the
right to use the Gardens and may be required to surrender
their key to any member of the Board.
Additionally, there is one unwritten rule; PLEASE do not
allow anyone, even children, to relieve themselves in the
Garden.
We have also become a bit stricter about fireworks since
these regulations were written, and the only fireworks displays
we will authorise must be professionally managed with appropriate
insurance.
You may have noticed that there are no estate agents 'For
Sale' boards on the estate. A local ordinance forbidding
them on aesthetic grounds came into force in 2004. For local
estate agents please consult 'links'. We should also say
that the agent for Kemp Town Enclosures, Jonathan Rolls
at 244 Eastern Road, BN2 5TA is also a reliable estate agent.
